Terms of Service

Last updated: September 4, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Ranex ("Service", "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

Ranex is deterministic governance for AI agents that build software: a kernel of ordinary, inspectable code that judges work by evidence and executable checks rather than by model confidence. The Service currently consists of:

  • A command-line kernel that evaluates a gate against evidence, a subject, and an approver, and records the verdict
  • Evidence production bound to an exact commit digest, signed with Ed25519 and verified against a keyring committed to your repository
  • An append-only, hash-chained journal of verdicts, with a verify command
  • This website, including the blog, resources, the contact form, and a link to a design-partner application hosted by our newsletter provider

Pre-release. Ranex is not a finished product. Substantial parts of the design (flow graphs and scenario compilation) are not built. The project README is the authoritative statement of what exists today, and it names the known gaps.

Who operates this. The website and the project are run by Anthony Garces, the founder, through his development company Anito (the same accountability stated on the About page). Questions about these terms go to support@ranex.email.

3. Licensing

3.1 The Kernel (Free)

The Ranex kernel, the code that decides pass or fail, is licensed under the MIT License. Free for personal and commercial use, on the terms of that license.

3.2 Paid Plans

No paid plan is offered or sold today. If commercial plans are introduced, they will layer private features on top of the kernel rather than restrict it, and their own terms will be published before anything is charged.

4. No Accounts

4.1 Nothing to Register For: This website has no sign-up, no sign-in, and no user accounts. We hold no credentials for you and issue no license keys. You can read every page here without identifying yourself.

4.2 The Kernel: The kernel runs on your own machine under the MIT License. It requires no account with us, no activation, and no model credential.

4.3 What You Can Send Us: Two things: a message through the contact form, and your email address to our newsletter provider if you apply as a design partner. Both are voluntary, and both are covered by the Privacy Policy. Please give accurate contact details if you want a reply.

4.4 If This Changes: Should accounts be introduced later, these Terms will be updated to cover registration, credentials, and termination before any account can be created.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service (except as permitted by applicable license terms)
  • Use the Service to transmit malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Resell or redistribute the Service outside the terms of its license
  • Use the Service against code you do not have permission to access

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 The Kernel: Licensed under the MIT License. Source repository available at GitHub.

6.2 Future Private Features: Any commercial features layered on top of the kernel remain proprietary. If they are made available to you, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them.

6.3 Your Code: You retain all rights to code Ranex observes. We do not claim ownership of your code, and the kernel does not transmit it anywhere.

7. Payment Terms

7.1 No Fees Today: Nothing on this site is for sale. No plan is offered, no payment is collected, and no card details are taken.

7.2 No Payment Data: Because nothing is sold, we hold no card numbers, no billing addresses, and no invoices. There is no payment processor connected to this site.

7.3 If Paid Plans Are Introduced: Prices, payment terms, and refund terms will be published, and this section replaced, before anyone is charged anything.

8. Data and Privacy

8.1 The Kernel: Runs entirely on your machine. Checks execute locally against your own code; evidence, the gate catalog, and the journal live in your repository. Your code never leaves your machine.

8.2 No Model Credential Required: A stated invariant of the project is that removing every model credential from the machine must not change a single verdict. Judging your code does not call a model or a cloud service.

8.3 This Website: Data you submit here (contact form messages and design-partner sign-ups) is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

8.4 Privacy Policy: See our Privacy Policy for details on data collection and use.

9. Service Level Agreement (SLA)

9.1 No SLA: Ranex is pre-release and is provided "as is" with no service level agreement, no uptime guarantee, and no committed support response time.

9.2 Future Plans: Any service level commitment attached to a future paid plan will be published with that plan. Until then, none exists.

10. Disclaimers

10.1 No Warranty: THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

10.2 What a Passing Verdict Means: A pass proves that the checks you configured ran against an exact code digest and produced the recorded results. It does not prove the specification was right, and it says nothing about behavior you never specified. Absence of a requirement is absence of a guarantee.

10.3 Non-Functional Properties: Performance, accessibility, and security are not covered unless you add checks for them. Those are separate checkers, not free.

10.4 AI Governance: Ranex judges what an AI agent produces; it does not control the models themselves and does not improve the quality of the code they write. We are not responsible for AI-generated code.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RANEX SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM: (A) YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR USE OF OUR SERVERS AND/OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION STORED THEREIN; (C) ANY BUGS, VIRUSES, OR OTHER HARMFUL CODE THAT MAY BE TRANSMITTED TO OR THROUGH OUR SERVICE.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ranex and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

13. Termination

13.1 By You: You may stop using Ranex at any time. There is no account to close. To leave the design-partner list, use the unsubscribe link in any email from us; to have your contact messages deleted, write to us and ask.

13.2 By Us: There is no account for us to suspend. We may block access to this website, or stop replying to messages, if you violate these Terms.

13.3 What Survives: Your rights in the kernel come from the MIT License, not from these Terms, and nothing here revokes them. A copy you already hold stays yours. What we hold about you is deleted on the schedule set out in the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes are published on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and material changes are also sent to design-partner list subscribers by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Singapore.
